Today, I’m going to talk about an extremely important subject, it’s using peppermint oil for your hair, most importantly, its side effects.
A lot of people simply don’t know how to use peppermint oil for their hair, they think that applying some few drops onto their scalps and massaging everything is going to do the trick, but in most situations, they are going to cause themselves lots of side effects and damages!
And this is what we are going to deal with in this post, not only the kinds of side effects you are going to get, but also how to lower them and prevent them from ever happening to you.
So, the first side effect of using peppermint oil for your hair is lots of itchiness.
You need to understand that peppermint oil is an essential oil, it’s highly concentrated, it contains huge amounts of antiseptic compounds, and even worse, it can even irritate your hair follicles, and this is why I do not recommend applying peppermint oil directly onto your scalp, I always ask my readers to dilute it with olive oil or almond oil for example, it’s for your own protection.
So, when you have lots of itchiness that’s due to using too much peppermint oil on your scalp, the first thing you need to do is to stop hurting your hair and scalp in the first place, yes, you need to avoid using peppermint oil for a minimum of one month, then, I want you to start applying a few drops of olive oil to your scalp on a daily bases while massaging very gently for a minimum of one week, this is very important because it’s going to hydrate your scalp while also preventing it from drying.
The second one is a burning sensation.
If you use too much peppermint oil on your scalp, then, you are going to suffer from a burning sensation almost immediately, trust me, as explained before, peppermint oil is an essential oil, it’s very powerful and it can cause lots of burning sensations and itchiness on your scalp, so, you have to remember the first advice I’ve given you, it’s extremely important.
The third one is temporary hair loss.
In most cases, people want to use peppermint oil on their hair to increase hair growth, but did you know that applying too much can even lead to hair loss?
This is extremely important for you to understand, if you don’t know what you are doing, then please, avoid using peppermint oil altogether, it’s going to increase hair damages while also irritating your hair follicles which can lead to hair loss!
So, if you are suffering from hair loss that’s due to peppermint oil, the first thing you need to do is to stop using it, the second thing is to apply a minimum of one teaspoon a day of olive oil to your scalp while massaging very gently, wait twenty-five minutes, and then rinse using your favorite shampoo, one more very important thing, avoid using shampoos which contain alcohol, only use organic shampoos, they are the best.
And the fourth one is dandruff.
When you have an irritated scalp, you are going to get dandruff, and the first way to avoid this is to know how to use peppermint oil in the first place.
So, always use the right amount of peppermint oil, never use high-grade peppermint oil directly onto your scalp, it can be very dangerous.
